Exhibition news

innerlightKia ora tatou:

I am currently in Rotorua, New Zealand, preparing for the official opening of the Innerlight Exhibition, an exhibition of work from students who atended last year’s workshop at Lake Waikaremoana.

Frankly the work has surpassed my wildest expectations. At a time when the medium is in transition, when digital photography has offered us a new direction which we are groping towards ( blog post in production), to see work which moves the medium into a new place, is very exciting indeed.

Do take the time to visit the show if you are close by.

Otherwise, have a look here, and enjoy the work, all of which has moved from photography as representation to another space altogether.

There are still places on this year’s Innerlight workshop….

Nga mihi

Very mvoing – not only the images, but also the emotions expressed in each person’s views of how the Lake affected them

Thank you Tony, and participants, for sharing your creations with those of us who can’t be there to view it in real lfe

Looks awesome Tony (and congratulations team). Sorry can’t do Rotorua in the near future to have a look but Tony – if you were to borrow the exhibition, fill up the back of the truck, and set it up in your new house/gallery in Hanmer we could all pop in and have a closer look?

    Hi BB:
Many thanks for the kind comments. I will pass these on to the group at the opening tonight.
Mark: many thanks also. I iwlll see what I can do…:-)

    Mark R – what a good idea

How many images are there Tony? And space needed? With the group’s agreement it is possible that the exhibition could be shown at the gallery in the Hanmer Library. I can give you the details of whom to contact to set this up – when next you return – if you wish.

Enjoy the opening tonight – Cheers
BB (who has lived in Hanmer Springs for the last 18 years !!!)

Congratulations everyone. Sorry I am unable to view in person the wonderful work achieved at the Lake Waikaramoana Workshop which I was not able to attend. From the pictures you certainly captured the spirit of the Lake – each in your individual way! All the very best to you all.

Ok Tony – I already did that but wasn’t sure if any were omitted! (9 images would easily fit in the Amuri Gallery!)
    Cheers

    BB:
No, what you see is the whole show. I have mentioned the idea to the whole group, and will follow up as time permits.
    Warm Regards

Hi Tony, the exhibition looks fab. I chuckle to hear you talk about your Sony camera when I remember how you poured scorn on my little one when I was the only digital user in the class…

  10. Tony Bridge says:

    Hi Jessamine:
    Yes it is fab indeed!
    Funny, I don’t remember that….

    Tony,
exhibition images, beautiful, thought provoking and inspiring.
Perhaps a different/better venue for an exhibition in Hanmer is the spiritual home – The Church of the Epiphany Hanmer Springs. (Remember – ‘Epiphany’ means manifestation or showing.) So, it may be very appropriate.
